Hiking and trekking are the kind of recreations every person would want to do once in a lifetime if they fall under the category of wild and adventurous people. When it come to adventure trekking and hiking are the top most priority. However these activities require professional training and a great amount of fitness and are definitely not recommended for amateurs without any professional help.
However for those willing to go for it otherwise in Nevada then the Red Rock Canyon area is one of the best places for this.
The Red Rock Canyon gets its name from the rock it is made up of namely the red sandstone embedded in these mountains. There are provisions for touring the place in vehicles. But the best way to actually enjoy and explore the scenic beauty of the place is to walk and hike. The best feature of the canyon is the unique red colored horizontal streaks across the mountains known as the Wilson Cliffs which are clearly visible from the city of Las Vegas. The combination of the red streaks against the grey background is a fascinating sight and can be one of the most beautiful carvings by nature. The area is very steep and consists of hard rocks which makes it a dangerous yet a very challenging place for hiking and trekking. Hence this place is highly recommended for professional hikers looking out for an adventure and a place to hone their skills.

Mt. Charleston Hiking
Nevada has plenty of attractive trails for hiking. Mt Charleston in Clark County is one of them. It covers an area of 316,000 acres. The elevation starts from 7000 feet and goes up to 11,918 feet. Mt Charleston has only one trailhead, so you will hike in and back out the same way. At the top there is a deep hole, almost the size of a small basement. If you have enough protective clothing and mattress you can camp out there.
The weather and temperature fluctuates a lot, as you expect. In summer, during the day it can go up to 100 degrees and at night it can come down to 60 degrees. In winter it goes up to 50 degrees and the lowest can be around 20 degrees. Sometimes this trail can get really dry, a real threat for fire hazard. It is wise to check the conditions with the authorities beforehand.
You don’t need permits for hiking and it is free. For overnight stay you can collect the free permit at the trailhead.

Nevada Theatre
With a history of over hundred and fifty years, a play or movie can be made on Nevada Theatre itself. It is the oldest theatre of California. The theatre stepped into its third century. It is the venue for many theatrical performances, musical acts, high school graduations, wedding ceremonies and films.
It all began in 1863. The building was a hotel named Baily House hotel. In the deadly fire that year the hotel burned down. Later when the Nevada Theatre Association was formed, they took over the burned building and renovated it to provide the community a theatre. The theatre was opened in 1865. The first act was a comedy called Dutch Governor.
In 1909 decision was made to turn the theatre into a movie house. They remodelled the place and until 1950 the house was primarily used for that purpose. Later in 1958 the emergence of television and economic reasons forced the association to close down the movie house.
It was opened again in 1963. Thanks to The Nevada County Liberal Arts Commission, now known as The Nevada Theatre Commission. They raised the funds and did other necessary renovations to bring this place back to life.
