Las Vegas Ski Resort History
The love that Las Vegas locals had for the snow and snow activities is what helped envisage the Las Vegas Ski Resort since the late 193os’. The picturesque North facing slopes unvisited by the winds had always been a particular favorite among the denizens of Vegas. It was the year of 1964 that marked the opening of the Lee Canyon Ski Area, the occasion being a prompt response to the US Forest Service permit. Over the years Lee Canyon Ski Area underwent a major transformation with the addition of a freestyle terrain park, Chair Two, Chair Three and a half pipe. Local competitions had become a regular activity. Lee Canyon Ski Area officially acquired the name of Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort in the year of 1995. Today this famous ski destination is owned and operated by the Powdr Corporation. It continues to undergo several changes and improvements for the convenience of visitors and skiers.
